Who we are
Our story began at the University of Sheffield, exploring design, ecology, dynamic planting, urban design, and human connection. We felt a call to return to the roots of why we design: to create spaces that feel both intentional and alive.
Now based in Worthing, to the landscapes of the South Coast and beyond. We celebrate our passion of designing experiential community and private gardens and landscapes through the approach of craft gardening and management.

Co-founder
James Miller
James is an experienced horticulturist, plantsman, lecturer and professional gardener with a lifelong passion for plants. He specialises in ecological and naturalistic planting design with a strong focus on conservation, future climate resilience and ecosystem services. Previously, James has worked in some of the most renowned gardens and nurseries domestically and internationally. Thoughtful and imaginative management, creating and crafting distinctive gardens and landscapes is something he brings to Amaranth Collaborative.
Through studying and working with plants in the wild, as well as in gardens and nurseries around the world, he has developed a broad and insightful approach to horticulture and design, that informs his daily work. He believes that gardens, landscapes and plants, should be accessible to everyone, and that the educational, wellbeing and health benefits of gardening can help reconnect people with nature and tackle some of the challenges of our age. James cares deeply about community-rooted horticultural projects, community gardens and social inclusion. This is a fundamental reason for his involvement with Amaranth Collaborative.

Co-founder
Saachi Parasrampuria
Saachi is an architect and an experienced landscape architect with a passion for creating meaningful and resilient spaces for people and nature alike. Her design philosophy is rooted in the relationship between architecture, landscape and planting, and how these elements come together to create an experience.
The way landscapes shape an individual’s experience, while also acting as dynamic living systems, is what excites her the most.
She has worked across a diverse range of landscape projects and scales, from facilitating community landscape projects to designing intimate private gardens to large-scale public realm landscapes, in India and the UK. She also has experience working on landscape planning and strategy level projects within the UK.
Through illustration and a considered understanding of site analysis, she brings together technical knowledge and artistic craft to explore, capture and evoke the character of a place. Her skill in creating experiential spaces and placemaking brings a distinctive quality to Amaranth Collaborative.

Our Philosophy
Amaranth Collaborative is a landscape and garden design practice, centred on collaboration, shared ideas and inclusive processes. Crafting gardens and shaping spaces, we are community minded with a social conscience. Designing spaces with plants and bringing resilience for future climate challenges is our central goal. Taking a fresh approach to garden design and landscape architecture, embracing the craft of gardening and skilled custodianship of the land, we bring a fine eye for detail. Landscape design, urban horticulture, ecological planting, and community empowerment through our internationally minded approach,
is rooted in people, plants and community.
