Immersive Exotic Garden, Witham, Essex

Location: Witham, Essex

Client: Private

Status: Completed

Project Type: Residential Garden

This was the first phase of a private garden project in Central Essex. The aim of the project was to seamlessly fuse the themes of Mediterranean, herb, exotic, cottage, wildlife and kitchen garden in one flowing story through these planting themes.

The design for this garden started with site zoning. The intention was to make sure our clients garden provided the joy they hoped for. The newly designed garden gave them somewhere to really appreciate nature, an outdoor dining area, a place to grow herbs, fruit and vegetables. Various seating areas enable them to enjoy the changing themes of the garden across the seasons.

The garden provides an experience of all sorts ranging from walking on stepping stones amongst a blanket of ground covers to being surrounded by fragrant and seasonally rich planting around the outdoor dining areas. The garden attracts plenty of birds and pollinators which are very welcomed and enjoyed by the clients. Pergola areas have been designed planted with climbers like grapes and roses spreading scent and offering shade.

Climate Resilience within the garden

This is a zero watering garden. It includes novel succulent planting in recycled drainpipes some including Opuntia humifusa and Hesperaloe parviflora alongside tough mediterranean plants .

“...a cornucopia of lovely plants.
